Liposuction
(Liposculpture)
How Will I Look And
Feel After Surgery?
The speed of your recovery will depend largely on the extent of your
surgery.  Although everyone heals at a different rate, you can expect that
your recovery will follow this general time line:

Within the first week:
♦the swelling will reach its peak.
♦any non-dissolving stitches are removed at the end of the first week.
♦you may return to non-strenuous work after the first week.
♦you will wear your compression garment at all times, except to shower.

After several weeks:
♦bruises will fade and eventually disappear.
♦areas that felt numb will begin to regain normal sensation.
♦you may resume your normal exercise activities after 4 weeks.
♦you can discontinue wearing the compression garment after 6 weeks.
♦swelling will gradually subside.

After several months:
♦while you will have a good idea of what to expect from the results of
your liposuction by 6 weeks after surgery when the majority of swelling has
subsided, there will be ongoing changes for several months, with
continued decrease in swelling.
